Relax with Sedation
If you need additional help relaxing, we offer sedation. But before you receive it, Dr. Theriot or Dr. Redhead will review your medical and prescriptions histories to ensure you’re a sedation candidate.
Nitrous oxide – Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a mild sedative. It reduces anxiety and sensitivity to pain. As you breathe in the colorless, odorless gas during dental treatment, you’ll feel calm and experience a slight tingling sensation. After dental treatment, you’ll stop inhaling nitrous oxide, and the effects will reverse in seconds.
Oral conscious sedation – For sedation, we can give you triazolam to take before your appointment. You’ll arrive at our office relaxed and ready for dental care. You’ll still be conscious and able to respond to our questions or directions during treatment, but probably won’t remember it. At the end of your appointment you still won’t be fully alert, so arrange for transportation to and from your dental appointment.
